What’s this all about?
Before you get flashes of ‘Shakira’ or the great ‘Helen’ dancing, let us share that Belly dancing is actually an ancient art form that actually originated as a religious dance in Middle East and North Africa. It was performed barefoot in women’s religious ceremonies to connect with Mother Earth. Belly dancing is also a great way to get in shape. It’s a nice workout that’s very different and fun. A great workshop for women to learn something interesting and have a great experience
We welcome you to a great Sunday ‘experience’. The workshop starts @ 6:30 pm and after a few hours of sessions, steps and hip movement combinations, get ready to feast yourself on authentic theme based munchies followed by an open house. A few pointers: wear comfortable clothing. You can also carry your workout clothes to the session.
Shanaz Bakhtiari hails from Iran where Belly Dancing is an ancient and respected art form. She has been professionally trained by Mr Nader Rajabpoor in Ballet, Persian Folk Dance, Traditional Dance and Iranian Modern Dance and holds a BA in Journalism. Upon completion, she pursued her true calling and was accepted into the ERFAN dance troupe; a famous Iranian dance recital group that performs at prestigious theatre venues across the world. Today, Shanaz continues to develop her own unique and distinctive choreography and teaches students the love and art of dance.
